Images capture our attention and
are more than words can express
We all have those “Aha” (attention grabbing) moments when we see an image of something that we have read about. The old phrase “a picture is worth a thousand words” is correct. The phrase, attributed to Fredrick R Bernard, actually said “one look is worth a thousand words”, and a similar Chinese proverb “one picture is worth ten thousand words”.
Visual communication is easier to remember
We absorb between 80-90% of what we see. This leaves 10-20% for all of the other senses. Research at the 3M Corporation concluded that we process visual information 60,000 times quicker than text. This means that which is vital and consequential for our business and personal lives is best communicated visually. It is "how we do life" to most effectively consider what we are given and achieve a lasting impact.
